An experience dedicated to anglers looking for large fish and memorable catches. The Alto Chiese Big Game Fly Fishing Experience takes place in the lower section of the Alto Chiese area, around Storo, and offers the opportunity to fish two distinct stretches, geographically very close to each other but managed with separate fishing permits: Rio Lora (currently NK0) and Formigher Reserve.

The Rio Lora, approximately 1.9 km long, has the typical characteristics of a spring-fed stream, with crystal-clear water, white stone bottoms and long algae beds. It is an extremely fascinating and technical environment, where you can encounter brown trout, marble trout, hybrids and large rainbow trout. The largest fish can move directly into and out of the Chiese River, making the search for a truly big catch particularly exciting. Fishing is possible with dry flies during hatches, sight nymphing and streamers, making this stretch particularly suitable for anglers with good fly fishing experience. The stretch is open from January to October.

The Formigher Reserve, approximately 0.8 km long, also features a spring-fed environment and is located between two fish farms. The fishery is managed with large stocked fish, particularly Arctic char and rainbow trout, while brown trout may also be encountered. The same main techniques used on the Rio Lora can be applied here: dry flies during hatches, sight nymphing and streamers. Thanks to the higher presence of stocked fish and the characteristics of the stretch, the Formigher Reserve is also suitable for less experienced anglers and beginners who want to experience the excitement of targeting large fish. This stretch is open all year round.

The two stretches are separate and require different fishing permits. You can therefore choose to spend the day exclusively on the Rio Lora or on the Formigher Reserve. Alternatively, by purchasing both permits, it is possible to fish both areas on the same day, taking advantage of their close geographical proximity and creating a varied and dynamic day of fly fishing.

One of the most convenient aspects of this experience is the close proximity of parking areas to the fishing spots, allowing easy access to the different stretches and letting you focus entirely on the fishing. As your guide, I will help you choose the stretch that best matches your experience level and goals for the day, guiding you towards the most effective techniques, spots and strategies for these waters.

The Alto Chiese Big Game experience is also perfect as part of a multi-day fly fishing package, combining the search for large fish in the lower Alto Chiese area with experiences in the upper sections of the river and the different environments throughout the valley. A complete way to discover the Alto Chiese through fly fishing, combining different environments, techniques and types of catches.
