Selected Bucktail Piece

Selected Bucktail Piece is a selected section taken from a deer tail, a classic and widely used material for tying streamer flies. The natural fibers measure approximately 8-12 cm in length, making them ideal for both freshwater and saltwater streamer patterns.

Bucktail fibers are naturally lightweight, durable and slightly stiff, allowing tiers to create large, voluminous flies that remain light and mobile in the water. Their length makes them especially suitable for tying large streamer patterns while maintaining clean and effective profiles.

The material can easily be shaped and trimmed with scissors to achieve the desired silhouette. For best durability, it is recommended to use strong tying threads when securing the fibers to the hook.

Bucktail is also very resistant to predator teeth, making it perfect for flies targeting species such as pike, marble trout and other large predators. It is widely used in saltwater streamers and classic patterns such as Clouser Minnow and Surf Candy, as well as imitations of shrimp, anchovies and small baitfish.

It blends very well with other streamer materials such as streamer feathers, synthetic fibers and long-fiber dubbing, and can easily be combined with flash materials for added attraction.
